Founded in 1999, the BID's successful programs include maintaining the beautification of the District’s streets, sidewalks and surroundings, capital improvement projects and marketing to assist local businesses.

Background  - In the District, improvement costs are financed by District property owners and grants. The District was initially capitalized at $274,000 annually for a period of five years.

In 1994 Governor Wilson signed AB 3754 (Caldera) establishing the Property and Business Improvement District Law of 1994.  This new State Law created a mechanism for property owners to join forces and improve their commercial districts.  The Studio City Improvement Association seized this opportunity to utilize this new tool to provide efficient supplemental services to Studio City.
