SK8R was opened in May of 2001 as a family business. Owned by Ian & Elizabeth Bass-Galespie, the store was influenced by the interests of their 2 boys Colby & Jake. The concept is "Skate Boutique." This style of shop was born in the SoHo district of London. It has worked its' way west, first through SoHo in N.Y.C., and now to Southern Ca. in Studio City.
The emphasis is on skateboarding and urban apparel. Our clothing and accessories reflect the creativity and edge of the skate culture, which has long been a unique part of society in its grass roots attitude toward fashion. The skate section of the store represents different styles of skateboarding from street to vert to longboarding. Featured companies are Zero, Black Label, Alien Workshop, Habitat, Zoo York and local favorites Afroman Productions(afromanskateboards.com).

The apparel we show is both familiar and new. You will see lines such as Dickies, BC Ethic, Puma, Pony and Spy alongside some exciting new ones like Nikita from Iceland, Blue Mushroom, Fyasco and Root Troop. Of course, there is an entire line of shop gear as well featuring our striking SK8R logo.
Come in and check us out, I think you will see it's not just a skate shop, it's a state of mind.
